All About the Ring

Beauty that shines like the stars in heaven

Sensual comfort fit

Wrapped neatly around your finger

How many diamonds does it have?

Is the clarity bad?

Does it outshine the moon?

Can it be seen across the vast seas?

Will it bring you contentment?

The larger the more happiness promised

Is your love measured by how massive the stone is?

Is your heart so shallow that the only thing

Conceived is the price tag hanging from it

What happens if it’s lost or stolen?

Will your love suddenly fade away?

How much more do you treasure

The superficial piece of happily ever after

What if there was no ring presented to you

Would your love suddenly get amnesia

Is it more important than the heart that’s

Offering you a spiritual connection

In the end it’s been all about the ring

Not what it should stand for

When Love Comes Knocking

When love comes knocking at your door
Waiting to capture you away in its arms
Will you peek through your peep hole?
To see who it is
Or will you take a leap of faith and
Open the door so love can walk in
Tango with your soul
Having your emotions tightly held in an embrace
Body and earth spinning out of control
Has your heart been stepped on one time too many
And the knock is representing your pain with each rhythmic sound
Taunting you daring you to open the door to your heart
So it can come in and take possession
Or do you take a chance and forgive, heal the hurt
Let love saunter on in to mesmerize you with passion
How many times does it take to get it right?
How many opportunities do we get to love again?
You ask yourself what if I get hurt once more and this
Dance ends like all the rest, leaving your heart heaving
Yet still unfulfilled
Debating on opening the door as the knock becomes louder
The vibration of the pounding matching the uncertainty of
Your heart beats
Let me in to love you as you should be loved
Echoes each cannonade tempo
When love knocks will you open the door?
Embrace your future
Or ignore it and live forever wondering…

Oblivion

To wish away memories
Never give birth to pain
Letting remembrances remain in oblivion
Restless reminiscences roam unable to rest
Unsettle thoughts dangle from tears
Shadows of the past cast a sorrowful aura
Always a reminder of regrets that linger
Tangling themselves with the present

Morphing

Where is the You I become
Where is the I to myself belong
A face in the mirror morphs into
A new dimension of you
Open my mouth to speak
It’s your voice that reverberates
Everywhere I turn it’s your image
That appears
Slowly the butterfly returns to
The caterpillar
All identity gone
Now the question still remains
Where is the You I become
Where is the I to myself belong

January Love

Jezebel a vexatious woman
Another dared not to be like her but failed
Narcissistic characteristics begin to
Unveil true desires
Arousing the suspicion of others
Rival for her affection
Yesterday a dual in the sun

Lost souls lie dying
Ominous laughter whispers in the air
Virtuous lady only a mirage in lonely minds
Eventually no one wins
January Love

Beauty She Is

Beneath her surface no one bothered to explore
External exquisiteness catches eyes
Antagonism never touched her soul
Understanding gave her gracefulness
Truth was her strength
Years of hard work with no rewards

She still held her head high
Her greatest gift were her children
Even when they’d stumble and fall

In her was the heart of warrior
Soul of an angel she will forever be

Beauty She Is…

Familiarity

I know your touch
Your smell
The way you walk
Wear your hair
You are a familiarity
Close my eyes I see
Every inch of you
Know what you taste like
Finish your sentence
Ease into a life acquainted
With your essence
Fluently my body conveys
A linguistic only you can interpret
You are
I am
We become
One familiarity

Love Me Some You

Lay with me
Only never to arise
Varying degrees of passion
Erupt between two bodies

Mesmerized by the desire reflected in your eyes
Envisioning lips caressing my secrets

Selfishly I want more
Ominous emotions emergence
Mirrored hunger undeniable
Echo of voices crying out in pleasure

Yielding to the fire burning
On my way to finding
Utopia as I love me some you

The Dance

Watch how my body sways to the music
Each tempo pulls me into the dance
Close my eyes wet my lips
Let my hips perform naturally to the rhythm
As I imagine a lover captured in my embrace
Our bodies working fluently as one
Pressed so close our hearts beat in unison
With the music reverberating around me
Passion pours from my core
My appetite is ferocious as I pull
You into my web of desire
Illicit acts of the dance tantalize
Captivating an audience
It’s my dance that hypnotize
Hungry eyes
Watch me as I dance, as I dance as I dance…

Three Daddy Syndrome

She gave her love to this man laid in his bed
Nine months later she cradled her joy in her hands
Ten months later he was know where to be found
On to number two who was no better than number one
Showered her with promises
Then reneged by raining blows across her
Swollen stomach
You’d think she learned from her mistakes with
Two babies one hanging onto her legs
And the other swaddled in her arms
Being a romantic and always looking for the
Best in everyone in strolled baby daddy number three
Cool as cucumber didn’t even bother with all that
Phony bullshit just went for what he wanted
And it wasn’t her good cooking
Before she could blink the doctor was congratulating her
On baby number three
But in the back of his mind he was wondering
How she could have fallen for the three daddy syndrome

Sweeter Tomorrows

As I sleep and dream
Of ardent awakenings
My soul bathes in yearning
Crying out to be fulfilled
Toss and turn to the sweetness
Of quiet whispers tantalizing
My essence
Roll over reaching out to an apparition
Of longing
Silently falling deeper into slumber
Moan of pleasure
Sigh of contentment
Intake of deep breath
Curl into myself
Hugging empty air
As I sleep and dream of
Sweeter tomorrows

Hair

Her hair is short and nappy
She didn't stop to think her
Sexuality would be in question
If she walked down the street
Wearing Donatella Versace with
Hair long and flowing she’d be called sexy
Reverse that with short hair and now eyebrows
Are raised when she appears
People don’t understand it’s only hair
Short, long, straight or kinky
It doesn't define the person
It’s only an external extension
How she wears her hair isn’t to raise questions
It’s her choice that’s suits her well
Accept it; whisper your concerns question her sexuality
But remember that old adage, don’t judge a book by
Its cover

Longing

I hear the longing in your voice
The wistful way memories navigate from
Your lips
In hopes to resurrect some emotion
That is now long dead
Penitent actions originated too late
Apologies you don’t think you owe
Or are deserved
Atonement for causing cataclysmic destruction
You give with a shrug to you it was
No harm no fowl
All is forgiven in your one-sided lie
All reminiscences buried in the sea of tears
Every reflection is shatter with a stone
You reach out your hand
I only stare
Now you want to be my shelter
Too late the storms came tore my world down
In the aftermath I was left still standing
The longing you hear in my voice
Is only for you to vanish just as the fog rolls
Back out to sea and evaporates

Weakness

Vulnerable to the cry of lust
Never one to stay the course
Giving in to carnal needs
Bind the heart of desire
Blood pumps feverishly to
Compensate for a hunger
Screaming to find its fulfillment
Never mind the consequence
Exhausted dreams of grandeur
Chasing a dragon that doesn’t
Want to be caught
In the end lascivious rapture
Is all that counts

Junes Tears

Little drops from heaven
Each one a remembrance
Of a day the light in my life suddenly vanished
And here I sit now reflecting on a time
I felt would never heal a time when my tears
Were my bed and the questions in my head
Kept asking why my light had to go away
Barely a beginning didn’t have the chance
To grasp the meaning of tomorrow when he was
Fighting for today
The tears fall with each remembrance
A heart breaks with each reflection
My pain so ingrained in my being I didn’t
Believe I’d ever breathe again
Still I existed to be the fortress for visitors
Who saw what they wanted a soul strong and unbending
But inside part of me was lost and in the shadows my
Tears were my ghosts as my pain never let me forget
June tears would always be commemoration of the day
My light was no more

Jaded Love

Love is a complicated emotion
Betrayal defines the intricate lines
Between love and hate
Jaded perceptions of
What love is supposed to mean
Should mean, could mean
Loses its definition
And clarity becomes blurred
With right and wrong
Byzantine inclinations lure away
Innocence trapping it in defiled
Annotations of excuses

Chances

How many chances will it take?
For you to be truthful
Echo the same error
Now it’s become your anthem
You’re theoretically expected to learn from your
Mistakes not keep adding to them
You know if you place your hand
In fire you’ll get burned
The pain is excruciating, and the scar remains
Yet still you can’t conceive it
Not everyone shares you need to
Give you second, third, fourth,
Get the picture
If you’re looking for a soft heart
To manipulate you've knock on
The wrong door
Sorry I'm out of chances and
Your last chance just blew up

Shattered Glass

Shattered glass broken promises
Fine crystal to carry a heart upon
A bed of delicate truths
Love is an assortment of
Lies gently concealed in a guise
In its attempt to lure you away
From seeing what is real
Each shattered piece represents
The years of a life spent chasing
A fairy-tale without a prince
No more broken promises
No bed of delicate crystal
Only the hard unadulterated
Facts remain
Shattered glass can’t be put back
Together again

Confessions

They say confession is good for the soul
The one on the receiving end might not be so
Inclined to believe that line
Whose soul is it good for?
To lay your sins on someone’s shoulder
To bear your shame and transport
It around with them
Innocent ears have to hear betrayal
Eyes gaze deep into the face of evil
Remorse doesn’t pay the for the debt created
Now the valley walked through is more
Perfidious thorns and rotting roses
Great you with sadness and bewilderment
My how selfish you are to bare your soul
At my damn door
Anger is only now beginning to make its rest
Upon my heart that has endured way too much shit
How dare you invite me in to your turpitude?
Now I feel dirty like I was the one to cross
That threshold of iniquity
Scrub my skin till it’s raw
I can still smell the deceit and treachery
The stench lingers in my nostrils
Lies, lies, lies,
Confession for the soul is good
Just keep your damn secret take it to your
Grave and inconvenience me no more
With confessions

Feelings Escaping

I don’t know if I should cry
Scream, curse, get pissed or simply
Accept the fact the human psyche
Is strange to dissect
My heart feels
My soul aches
My tears are cleansing
Inside I carry them
Drowning my pain
But my pain knows how
To swim

March

Mesmerized by beauty of sky
Arrogance of nature breathes
Restless yearnings left unfulfilled
Caress mother earth
Healing one moment at a time

Heaven Sings

She closes her eyes listen to the wind
The song it sings only her heart
Can interpret
Each note is a reflection
Melodious interlude to peace
Quiet reminiscing settles a
Restless soul
Sweet air brushes against
Falling tears mingle with
The whisper of love passing by
She opens herself up
Breathing in a new tempo
Rhythm changes stanza
Inhaling the fragrance of new beginnings
Silently letting yesterday fade away
Heavens breath reaches inside a
Crumbling heart
Breathing in a new song
Giving life to hope
In her heaven sings
Heaven sings
Heaven sings…

February

Freedom to remember the past
Essential connection to your roots
Bring people together of all races
Romantic interludes
Undeniable attractions
Assets in a day of adoration
Road to discover a month filled
Yielding both love and discovery

January

  Juxtapose hearts
Answers rhythm
 Nocturnal spirits
Unearth desires
    Analytical visions
   Release emotions
   Yearning to fulfill

Altruistic Vibrations

Music down low
Candles lit across the room
In the corner a fire burns casting a glow
Shadows dance along the barren walls
Bed covered in rose petals
Sweet scent tantalizing a starved soul
Champagne and two flutes wait silently
Chocolate covered strawberries for the palate
Outside the wind howls
Soon to intermingle with the soft moans to come
Snow drifts softly against the windowpane
Dreamily the scene is set
In anticipation of altruistic vibrations

In Limbo

There is no simple yes or maybe
Black or white slight shades of grey
The defining line between today and tomorrow
Reality unravels
Hope becomes a figment of the imagination
Ambiguity lingers in the air
Out of your grasp slips fragile possibilities
From eyes tears rally to fight a battle lost
In the end decisions still remain unclear
Leaving you suspended in limbo

The Unknown

I can’t discipline the forces that
Lurk seeking to devour happiness
To stop my soul from soaring
My mind to create
My spirit from breathing
My heart from loving
If granted all that would be
Left is an empty shell
Of what use to be

December

Dearest to my heart
Everlasting love
Caresses in the night
Embers inflamed to passion
Merry souls dance
Breathing in and out
Expressions of giving
Remains forever this
    December night

Wrong Turn

Turn left no take a right
Directions on sign
Obscured to vision
Is this my test?
Left lane or right
Fork in the road make a U-turn
What’s next?
Damn navigation system is speaking
In a language that doesn’t exist
Pull out the road map
Now I’m even more confused
Dead end a head keep on driving
Put on the breaks
This will not be my fate
To end on a wrong turn

The End

Beautiful words put into verse convey all the things
She couldn't say but desired too
Their time had come full circle and now
She was ready to move on
He didn't want their love to end
Couldn't understand why she was
Walking away from him
Something’s aren't meant to be assumed
Love comes, love dies
That’s part of the mystery of life
As the verse entered its next stanza
She gave him one last glance over her shoulder
As the song slowly played out
She carefully walked out the door
Her farewell to an
End to a love song
